Pantone colour of the year 2025 – Mocha Mousse wedding inspiration
When Pantone unveiled their colour of the year for 2025, the overwhelming response was one of understated quietness. Compared to the brash nature of the lime green that we saw unofficially revealed as the BRAT Summer aesthetic, the choice of “PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse“ is undoubtedly the polar opposite.
“For 2025, the Pantone Color Institute selects PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse, a warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort.”

Traditionally, we tend to see the Pantone colour of the year appear as the top wedding colour each subsequent year. While the brown hues don’t immediately scream wedding inspiration, we think there are lots of ways that it can be incorporated into your 2025 wedding as an accent colour. It’s about incorporating additional tones, textures and general feelings of warmth and cosiness to create an intimate yet understated colour palette.
Mocha Mousse creates a feeling of “quiet luxury.”
The subtle nature of the warming brown tones offers a feeling of quiet luxury. This is a colour palette that is designed to be subtle and calming – not the more in-your-face option of summer punch weddings or Viva Magenta.
As wedding planners in Devon, we love the warm richness of this hue. It’s not a show-off, centrepiece colour. It’s something that needs to be matched with varying tones to bring it to life.
With the right accent colours, textures and tones, this is a colour that will look beautiful, featured in wedding florals, tableware, invitations and stationary. We think that adding it in as an accent colour to the bridal party attire (think ties or handkerchiefs for the men and ribbons or accessories for the ladies) will be a thoughtful way of bringing it to life.
What colours can Mocha Mousse be paired with?
Pantone suggests that Mocha Mousse naturally lends itself to be paired with other minimal colour palettes, keeping the look clean and elegant.
It will look stunning alongside creams, tans and other chocolate hues, allowing the subtle warming tones within Mocha Mousse to come through. We think paired with gold or bronze accents, it could really enhance your look and feel.
If you want a contrast, Pantone recommends pairing Mocha Mousse with a cornflower blue, a pale lilac or a blush pink. A soft grey or muted green could also look stunning, especially if you’re searching for a sustainable and environmentally friendly wedding where you want nature to take centre stage as your theme.
Practical ways to add Mocha Mousse to your wedding vision board
Every December, we love the challenge of thinking about how to incorporate Pantone’s colour of the year into our wedding vision boards.
This year is no different.
We think the following practical ideas could look beautiful.
Floral arrangements
Your floral arrangements are the obvious place to start. Bridesmaids could have their flowers wrapped in a luxurious mocha ribbon. Bringing in textures such as soft velvet or a hardy suede for your ribbons could add a romantic feel – particularly if you are having blush-coloured peonies accented with lots of foliage.
On your tables, your vases could have hints of bronze or gold accents. There are some gorgeous metallic vases available at Dunelm that we think could pair beautifully with this colour scheme. The hints of bronze and the metallic shine add more texture and interest to the colour palette and would be sensational for a cosy, intimate bash.
Luxe stationery
The colour combinations of Mocha Mousse, bronze, creams, tans, and chocolate will make your stationery look gorgeous. Paired with a thick, velvety (and touchable) luxury stock, your invitations are sure to evoke an elegant and quietly luxurious statement for your guests.
Tableware
The pairing of Mocha Mousse with creams and tans makes it perfect as an accent colour for your tableware. In these instances, we can visualise cream tablecloths with a mocha-coloured runner, perhaps accented with gold or bronze candlesticks, while blush or cornflower blue candles add a hint of subtle colour.
You could choose to add touches of suede ribbons to your tables or invest in bold metallic charger plates to add different textures and tones to the overall look and style.
Wedding attire
In our opinion, less is more when it comes to Mocha Mousse. Using it as a hint within your wedding attire (perhaps as a ribbon on a bridesmaid’s dress or a tie for your groomsmen) could be enough to factor it into your colour scheme.
This is where textures can come into play. Suedes and leathers naturally align themselves to this colour scheme – a beautiful suede caramel-coloured court shoe for your bridesmaids could look heavenly and would be a shoe that could be worn time and time again. For example, something like these caramel shoes from Next or these Bronze mules from Dune could pair beautifully.
We’re excited to get started with the new Pantone Colour of the Year!
If you are inviting younger children, why not offer party guests a small pot of Play-Doh and a shape cutter to your child’s party bag? Playdoh hIt’s been a while since Pantone chose a neutral colour. In fact, we have to look as far back as 2006 (Sand Dollar, in case you’re interested) to find something that could be considered a true neutral.
We foresee that this will be a shift in the way that neutrals are used. For a long time, neutrals have been variations of greys, but those colours with the wrong undertone can feel cold and harsh. Instead, we welcome the return of cosy neutrals that come from combinations of browns, creams, taupes and similar tones. It creates an entirely different aesthetic and makes us excited to see how this will impact everything from wedding inspiration to interior design.
When you’re choosing your wedding colour scheme, suggestions like the Pantone colour of the year can be an inspiration. But you and your partner need to choose a palette that suits YOU as a couple – rather than simply what’s on trend.
